Patricia grew up in Galway in the west of Ireland, where she still lives. She has worked as a teacher, a director of an arts festival, a television writer, a playwright and a waitress, though not necessarily in that order.
Trish's new novel, Mother Tongue is a sequel to her highly acclaimed fiction debut The Wordsmith (both titles published by Little Island). The latter was shortlisted for the CBI Children’s Book of the Year Award and published by Sourcebooks in the USA under the title The List.
Her comic story for younger readers, Bumpfizzle (Little Island), was chosen as the 2019 Citywide Reading for Children by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature.
Trish is married with two teenage children and one incorrigible dog.
